Turn On/Off Noisy DC Device

SparkFun Opto-isolator Breakout

Turn on/off a noisy (DC motor) or higher voltage DC device with a microcontroller digital output. Connect the HV and HVG to the higher voltage, and OUT1 (or OUT2) to the higher voltage device to be switched on/off. Connect IN1 (or IN2) to the microcontroller digital output pin and GND to the microcontroller ground. NOTE: Variable microcontroller output at IN1 or IN2 will NOT result in variable output at OUT1 and OUT2. The output at OUT1 and OUT2 will be nearly the level of HV regardless of the voltage level applied to IN1 or IN2.
